Bougartchev Moyne Associés promotes Edward Huylebrouck to partnership

Six years after its creation, Bougartchev Moyne Associés continues its growth with the appointment of Edward Huylebrouck as partner. Present since the creation of the firm, Edward Huylebrouck becomes the fourth partner of the leading litigation boutique as from January 1, 2023.

Edward’s practice focuses on white collar crime litigation, as well as commercial, competition and consumer litigation. He has defended the interests of multinational companies and political or commercial decision makers in cases of corruption, tax fraud, concealed work, misleading practices (notably in the high-profile horsemeat case), cartel and unfair competition.

He has developed a particular expertise in the technology, digital platforms, transport, and pharmaceutical sectors.

Alongside founding partners Kiril Bougartchev and Emmanuel Moyne, and Geoffroy Goubin who was promoted to partner in January 2021, Edward will play an active role in developing the firm’s litigation practice in the areas of criminal and commercial law, in which he has been strongly involved in recent years.

Thanks to his international profile, Edward will also continue to play a key role in the international expansion of the firm, which is already active in 62 countries thanks to its solid network of “best friends”.

“We are very proud that Edward will become the firm’s fourth partner. His keen understanding of criminal matters and complex litigation makes Edward a real asset for our clients. His cross-disciplinary experience in criminal and commercial litigation, combined with his excellent knowledge of European law, will accelerate the development of the firm’s business litigation activities. His appointment is in line with our ambition to respond to the diversity of complex litigation and situations, as well as our desire to develop the firm’s talents and invest in a dynamic of organic growth”, commented the two founding partners, Kiril Bougartchev and Emmanuel Moyne.

“I am honored and delighted to be able to play an even more active role in the development of a firm that is dear to me and whose founding values I fully share. I look forward to contributing to its growth and, I hope, to its influence. To this end, we are fortunate to have been able to count on the involvement of extremely brilliant lawyers within the firm since its creation, who cultivate a concern for excellence and have a keen sense of teamwork in the service of our clients,” adds Edward Huylebrouck.

Edward Huylebrouck, 36, started his career as a lawyer in 2012. He holds a law degree from the University of Paris II Panthéon-Assas (European law) and a degree in economics from the University of Saint-Louis in Brussels. He was one of the 12 “Secretaries of the Paris Bar Conference” in 2015, intervening in this capacity at the historic trial of Paris attacks (Nov.13 attacks) in 2022.

In 2017, he participated in the creation of Bougartchev Moyne Associés, alongside founding partners Kiril Bougartchev and Emmanuel Moyne, of which he is now a partner. Prior to joining Bougartchev Moyne Associés, Edward completed his professional training at the European Commission and spent five years in the competition law department of Linklaters in Paris.

In recent years, Edward has made numerous legal contributions on the subject of corruption and other breaches of probity, as well as speaking on the criminal liability of public decision makers in times of Covid-19 and the birth of the European Public Prosecutor. He is regularly invited to teach a course on white collar crime at Sciences Po Paris.

In 2021, Edward was one of the 30 new-generation lawyers featured in La Relève of Décideurs Magazine.
